- The 33501 is equipped with almost all the details used in 501 jeans. It doesn't have only the red tab, which was first used in 1936. In 1922, belt loops were added as a new detail, and jeans became not only a worker's item of clothing but also an "everyday item" as we know it today. The 33501, with its mix of belt loops, cinch back, and suspender buttons, shows the duality of jeans as both work and everyday wear and is a valuable model from a transitional period when denim was also considered a fashion item.
