U.S.NAVY 6HOOK DECK JACKET
"BLOOD CHIT"
- "WAREHOUSE" has faithfully reproduced the hook-type "Blue Deck Jacket" used by the U.S. Navy during World War II based on the vintage jacket. Before the N-1, deck jackets were worn by crews working on the decks of Navy ships in the early stages of World War II. This contract number, with a record of contract completion in September 1943, was manufactured by the "Dryback Company", famous for its hunting clothes. The company also manufactured summer flight jackets for the Navy. The hooks are not eyeleted on one side, and a component with the same plate shape is used on both sides.
The large patch on the back of the jacket, known as a " Blood Chit," indicates that the jacket's wearer cruised everywhere during the war. It was used to inform non-English-speaking civilians that the wearer was an American soldier needing assistance. The patch says in Chinese: "I am an American soldier. My plane was destroyed. I do not speak the language of your country. Please feed me and take me to the nearest Allied garrison. You will be rewarded." - Material: High-density Selvedge Jungle Cloth Sulfur-dyed (100% Cotton)
