- There are many things related to peacocks in Hawaii. One reason is that it was the favorite bird of Princess Kaiulani, the last heir to the throne of the Hawaiian dynasty. She and her aunt, Princess Liliuokalani, were extremely popular in Hawaii. Therefore, the peacock was considered special and was also a popular motif for aloha shirts produced in the 1950s. At the time, the original fabric of this aloha shirt was printed by Kanebo for Ross Sutherland, a high-end men's clothing store in Honolulu.
