- In 1953, a spinning machine called "Ishikawa-dai" was manufactured. Ishikawa-dai is said to be the oldest spinning machine currently in operation in Japan. Compared to the latest spinning machines, the speed at which the Ishikawa-dai spins is about 1/3 the speed of the latest spinning machines. Although the production efficiency is low, the stress on the cotton is low and the texture is natural, just like hand spinning.
This denim is made of 6-count yarn spun on such Ishikawa-dai and woven with a shuttle made in the 1950s. The denim is the standard weight, about 15 oz., but the whole fabric has a unique uneven texture that seems to wave. Indigo is a green-cast color, similar to that of "Oni Secret Denim". The greenish-blue hue, combined with the fabric quality, is reminiscent of dead stock denim.
This denim jacket is based on the 2nd-type trucker jacket. While retaining the short boxy style, modern modifications have been made to the jacket, such as by narrowing the armholes. - Main Fabric: 15oz Ishikawa-dai Denim (100% Cotton) *One-washed
