Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane

SUGAR CANE - Toyo Enterprises, Inc., the creator of the brand, was established in 1965 with the U.S. military's full-scale intervention in the Vietnam War, targeting customers related to the U.S. military bases in Japan. When the Vietnam War ended in 1975, the company transformed itself into a completely domestic clothing manufacturer. At that time, the brand was named "SUGARCANE" by an officer stationed at a U.S. military base. Although Sugar Cane was born in Japan, its spirit and manufacturing know-how are authentic American, as the company had been in business with the U.S. military base.
Sugar Cane does not have a designer, but, rather, each person in charge has the responsibility of being the creator (craftsman) and is involved in all processes from planning to production. In order to reproduce the detailed specifications, the company uses shuttle looms and sewing machines of the time without regard to productivity and continues to produce good old-fashioned American workwear with the authentic style of the country.
