- This utility shirt N-3 is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage shirts. The N-3 utility shirt was adopted by the U.S. Navy in the 1940s. It was classified under the "N-3 Uniform" category of combat and work sets, consisting of four items: the N-3 jacket, N-3 trousers, N-3 cap, and N-3 shirt. While the other three items were made of herringbone twill, the shirt was made of lightweight cotton poplin, designed for use in subtropical climates. With gussets on both sides of the hem and fine gathers incorporated into the back yoke and cuffs, the details reveal that this is a shirt from an era when garments were crafted with care and attention to detail.
