"SOUTH SEA TRADER"
- The “South Sea Trader” is one of the most popular vintage Aloha shirts. It was created by John Meigs, a designer who reigned at the pinnacle of textile design at the time. The motif is based on the islands of the South Pacific, including Tahiti, where Paul Gauguin, a great admirer of his, was active, and he said he had a special attachment to the islands. The pattern depicts Meigs himself as “Trader John's,” a trader, and the aloha shirt is full of his sense of humor. This aloha shirt has been reproduced by Sun Surf based on the vintage aloha shirt.
