"THE DAYS OF SPACE ROBOT"
- This HINOYA exclusive Aloha shirt is custom-ordered with a special color, based on the model that was particularly popular at the time among SUN SURF SPECIAL EDITION archives. This model first appeared as a special edition in 2016 and was also produced with a black body in 2019 to commemorate our store's 70th anniversary. However, this is the first time it has been released with a white body.
The time was the 1950s. As aviation technology advanced, America's fascination with space intensified. While massive budgets fueled the development of military missiles and rockets, films and dramas celebrating the romance of space were also produced in abundance, almost as if to camouflage these military efforts. It was the golden age of the “SF boom.” These works profoundly influenced daily life, with motifs symbolizing space—rockets, planets—appearing on countless items.
The original of this reproduced Aloha shirt also depicts two robots alongside satellites and missiles, reflecting the era's context. The original was produced by "HOALOHA," a brand operated in Hawaii by Sears Roebuck, a major mainland U.S. department store, and this design was created for the mainland U.S. market. It is an exceptionally rare piece, as Hawaiian brands using space motifs are extremely uncommon. - Brand: HOALOHA
