"WILD WEASEL IV"
- This Type L-2B H-type with patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage. Established in 1941, the 64th Tactical Fighter Squadron has a long history. During the Vietnam War, it operated the modified F-4C Phantom II Wild Weasel IV to counter the SAM threat from North Vietnam. The Wild Weasel mission involved attracting enemy air defenses and destroying them, making it highly dangerous. The patch is theater-made in Thailand or Japan, featuring a fighting cock with the inscription "Wild Weasel IV", symbolizing pilot pride. The "NITE SAM QUALIFIED" patch below the name tag denotes night combat experience against SAMs. The right sleeve patch was awarded by McDonnell Douglas to pilots who completed 100 missions in the F-4, and the left sleeve patch humorously appropriated the North Vietnamese press's nickname "Air Pirates" for U.S. carriers in the Tonkin Gulf.
