- This Type L-2 flight jacket with patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage jackets. The 325th Combat Interceptor Squadron is a unit that began operations at Travis Air Force Base in April 1952, when it was reorganized as an interceptor squadron under the Air Defense Command. On October 22, 1962, when President John F. Kennedy told the American people that missiles were being deployed in Cuba and the Cuban Crisis broke out, the squadron dispersed some of its forces to the Des Moines airport. During the Cuban Crisis, the 325th Combat Interceptor Squadron operated F-102 Delta Dagger aircraft armed with Mighty Mouse rockets. These rockets had excellent low-altitude intercept capabilities, and the 325th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, with the skills and equipment to respond significantly to the combat expected during the Cuban Crisis, served as the spearhead of U.S. air defense until the crisis was over. The patch arrangement is gorgeous, with large patches on the front right chest of the jacket and the right sleeve that retain the WWII flavor unique to this era.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
