"KOINOBORI (Carp Streamers)"
- In 2024, as HINOYA celebrates its 75th anniversary, HINOYA has requested "Sun Surf" to create a special Aloha shirt. This Koinobori (Carp streamers) pattern is the design Sun Surf has reproduced for the first time. Many of the items favored and worn by Japanese American immigrants at the time were associated with Japan. In the motifs of Aloha shirts of the time, there was a strong tendency to favor lucky charms such as the design of a hawk, a symbol of success in life, and a carp climbing a waterfall. Also, items depicting traditional Japanese events and celebrations became popular, and carp streamers like the one on this shirt were produced, reminding people of their homeland Japan, and to pass on Japanese traditions to the next generation in the tropical country of Hawaii.
