- This Type M-41 jacket with patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage jackets. The 340th Bombardment Squadron was established in August 1942 as a medium bomber squadron equipped with North American B-25s. Initially under the command of the Ninth Air Force, it was transferred to the Twelfth Air Force in August 1943, supporting Allied ground forces in the Tunisian campaign. This patch custom is based on the Army's M-41 field jacket, which was sometimes worn by airmen during aerial combat. The squadron was nicknamed "THE DOGFACE," as stenciled on their backs, a name derived from a comic by Bill Mauldin. The patch adorning this jacket was meticulously crafted by artistically inclined soldiers in the unit, who engraved the leather by hand and colored it with hand-painting, making it a highly elaborate piece.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket based on the specs at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the string forcibly.
