TROUSERS, MEN'S, COMBAT TROPICAL SHORTS

• This 1st model of the combat tropical trousers is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage trousers, and arranged as shorts. The tropical field uniform commonly known as “jungle fatigues,” which was adopted and issued during the Vietnam War, saw a change in both the trousers and the jacket: the exposed buttons of the first model were replaced with hidden buttons after the second model. Since most combat in Vietnam took place in the jungle, and exposed buttons tended to snag on branches and equipment, the second model was modified to feature hidden buttons that were not visible outside the flap. Furthermore, the straps used to secure the contents of the cargo pockets were eliminated, the waist adjustment tabs were changed from button-fastened to metal-clasp fasteners, and the fabric was changed to ripstop. Since the first model was in service for only a short period, the number of surviving pieces is overwhelmingly small, making them highly rare.
