• "Buzz Rickson's" has reproduced the Deck Zip Jacket based on vintage. The deck jacket used from WWII to the Korean War was part of the US Navy's "Special Winter Clothing." Made of "jungle cloth," a windproof and water-repellent cotton grosgrain, the jacket's lining was a 26 oz. wool blanket, with organdy sewn inside for wind and water resistance. Early deck jackets had zip closures with an inner wind flap. Deck crew working in extreme cold at sea were equipped with a full set of gear including the jacket, matching trousers, headgear, wool face masks, leather gloves, goggles, and shoes.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket based on the specs at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
