Late 1960s Style Cotton Vietnam Jacket
"DRAGON"
- Tailor Toyo has reproduced this jacket based on a Vietnam jacket ordered by a U.S. soldier stationed in Vietnam in the late 1960s (1968-69) and brought back to the United States. Map patterns are the mainstream for Vietnam jackets, but this dragon embroidery is extremely rare. While several vintage dragon-patterned jackets exist, the vibrant, dynamic embroidery like this is unparalleled. Both the dragon on the back and the dragon on the sleeve are rendered using multiple colored threads, revealing the work of highly skilled craftsmen even at the time. The Kanji, “福” (meaning Fortune) on the left chest is slightly smaller than usual, but it uses two colored threads to recreate the original vintage style.
