"HAWAII MAP × DRAGON & TIGER"
- Tailor Toyo has reproduced an extremely rare "Hawaiian-pattern" Sukajan(Souvenir Jacket) from the late 1950s. The main side features a pineapple on the chest, and a map pattern depicting the Hawaiian Islands on the back. While there are vintage Sukajans with Japanese Maiko motifs, this work is characterized by replacing the Maiko with Hawaiian Hula Girls. Sukajan featuring overseas motifs, such as Hawaii and Alaska, which were common in the 1950s, were produced by KOSHO (the predecessor of Tailor Toyo) at the request of the U.S. military's Pacific PX Supply Headquarters, located in Ōfuna, Kanagawa Prefecture, and supplied to U.S. military bases.
The reversible side features a "Japanese" pattern of a dragon and tiger glaring at each other. The original Sukajan was sold at PX stores (base stores) in Hawaii, but it was exported from Japan, so it has the word "HAWAII" on the back, but the design is Oriental, resulting in a fusion of Japanese and Western styles. The body features a "reversed color scheme" of silver and green, with bright colors as the main colors, creating a refreshing finish reminiscent of tropical Hawaii. - Main/Lining: 100％ Acetate
