- 一般的にWEPと呼ばれるこのフライトジャケットの正式名称は、J-WFS（ジャケット・ウィンター・フライングスーツ）で、WEPと呼ばれる由縁は『Naval Weapons』（海軍武器局）のユニフォームからである。WEPは米海軍が1950年代中期から1970年代中期頃まで採用した冬季用スーツのジャケットで、開発当初からトラウザースとセットで着用することを前提としているため、ジャケットのライニングにはトラウザーズと連結させるためのタブが付いている。WEPにはスペック上4タイプ存在し、その最終型はスペックナンバーMIL-S-18342Cで、俗にCタイプと呼ばれている。Cタイプは1966年に海軍武器局によって制定され、1967年から1973年の間生産された。初期型のWEPの色はやや薄めのリーフグリーンであったが、Cタイプは緑みの強いオリーブグリーンとなる。特徴は袖口のリブがV字型にカッティングされており、前のタイプとは大きくモデルチェンジしている。
