- This Type L-2B with patches is reproduced by Buzz Rickson's based on vintage flight jackets. The 476th Tactical Fighter Squadron was organized in October 1957 at George Air Force Base, California. In September 1958, the squadron received the “F-104C Starfighter,” said to be the "last manned fighter," and engaged in air-to-air and ground training to improve its proficiency. In April 1965, shortly after the outbreak of the Vietnam War, the squadron began regular patrol missions to Da Nang, South Vietnam. The squadron's mission was to conduct MiG Combat Air Patrol (MiGCAP) missions to protect American fighter-bombers from attacks by North Vietnamese fighters. These missions were performed with one M61 Vulcan 20mm machine gun and four AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles on the F-104C. The deployment of the F-104s had an immediate and dramatic impact on MIG operations in North Vietnam, and the MIGs could no longer attack or make contact with USAF aircraft supported by the F-104s. This patch version is based on typical tactical unit regulations of the time, with large patches on the front and sleeves of the jacket, and the nameplate produced to match the squadron colors is definitely "custom-made".

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
