COAL MINE DENIM
- This is a limited edition of 5-pocket pants inspired by the jeans coal miners would have worn in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The 13.5oz selvedge denim is woven on a shuttle loom, referencing the L Company's denim from WWII, as studied with the twist of the yarn. For this model, an iron 2-needle buckle with an engraved lily emblem, which was used on the World War II model, is used. The silhouette is wide and straight, with a slightly higher rise and moderate room from the thighs to the hems. The back yoke is not switched, which is a typical feature of jeans, but darts are inserted vertically and horizontally to create a roomy, three-dimensional hip area. The original iron tack buttons, punched rivets, two-needle buckles, and narrow stitchwork are all original designs that follow the image of the time.
