• Tailor Toyo has reproduced a rare military-patterned Sukajan(Souvenir jacket), originally produced in small quantities at the time and now a rarity even in the vintage market. The motif on the main side depicts the U.S.S Princeton, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. The mark of the 77th Task Force on the chest and the CV-37 number on the back confirm the original was custom-ordered for this unit during its visit to Japan between 1950 and 1952, amidst the Korean War. The navy piping and ribs on the sleeves are used against the black and silver body, deliberately shifting the tones between the dark colors to prevent the overall look from being too uniform—a specification faithful to the vintage.
  The reversible side also features a rare Maiko pattern, which is hard to find in the vintage market. While there are designs that combine a Japanese map with Maiko patterns, a design featuring a large, mainly depicted Maiko is extremely rare. The body features a “reversed color scheme” with champagne gold and wine red. This Sukajan has quaint, rustic charm, meticulously depicting the beautiful rear view of a Maiko with “Yokoburi” embroidery(free-motion embroidery), such as neatly tied hair, the nape of the neck, the collar pulled back of her Kimono, and a long, loosely tied Obi-Sash.

1. Fine horizontal lines and wrinkles on the acetate ground surface are the characteristics of this fabric.
   Tailor Toyo uses high-grade acetate to give it a vintage feel.
2. This product uses parts such as delicate fabrics and zippers to reproduce the texture of the time. Please handle with care as it is sensitive to friction and slippage.
3. Please avoid hand washing or using a washing machine or dryer as it may cause significant deterioration of the product such as shape loss, discoloration, fraying, and seam breakage. Please consult a dry cleaner specialty store for laundry.
