- Among military outerwear, the N-1 jacket is known for its exceptional versatility. This is due to its ideal length, which allows it to be worn with a shirt untucked, as well as its excellent protection against the cold. For these reasons, it was worn not only by military veterans but also by dockworkers and factory workers in extremely cold environments. As a result, vintage jackets have been found with markings overwritten for different purposes, such as double-layered stenciling or red stripes like this one. The distinctive appearance of an N-1 jacket that has been worn by successive generations is what makes it an art piece.
