- "WAREHOUSE" has reproduced the 1970s VARSITY AWARD JACKET based on vintage. The "Varsity Jacket," which was allowed to be worn by football, baseball, and basketball players at prestigious universities before World War II, spread in the 1970s to become the "Award Jacket," which was produced for more general graduation commemorations, especially at high schools on the West Coast. Many students in high school chose different sports for spring/summer, and fall/winter, and thus the lettering decorations were richer than those in college. The thick chenille typical of the 1970s and the elegant chain stitching following the style of bowling shirts may be the reason why this jacket is called a "letterman's jacket" among Americans.
