• "Aviation Associates" is a series of jackets released under the assumption that "Buzz Rickson's" would have been a military contractor at the time. For aviators flying at high altitudes, leather coats providing wind and cold protection were essential. As aviation and aircraft evolved, so did flight clothing. In the 1930s, the U.S. Navy developed and adopted a cotton grosgrain material called “jungle cloth” for flight crew and deckhands exposed to extreme cold. This densely woven fabric offered excellent wind resistance and durability. The coat’s large map pockets and waist belt design hark back to traditional styles.

  From the 1920s through the 1940s, various types of flight jackets were commercially available at the market featuring the elements of Army spec. When examining the old photos during the World War, Toyo Enterprise was able to spot a few pilots with a non-Army-issued jacket. Officially, soldiers were not allowed to wear non-Army-issued jackets, but the regulation became loose during the actual wartime. The difference between Army-issued and non-Army-issued can mainly be seen on the design and material usage, but a similar color was used in accordance with the original Army-issued products to meet military regulations. And also the design of non-Army products was obviously based on Army-issued items, many non-Army jackets were somewhat modified with a bit of original twist, providing really classical look to the eyes. Aviation Associates was the legendary line that was commercially manufactured by the previous contractor Buzz Rickson MFG. "Buzz Rickson's" would sincerely want you to feel the spirit of the brand's product through these jackets.
