- This MA-1 with patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage. The 319th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was deployed to Homestead AFB, Florida in 1963 with the "Lockheed F-104A Starfighter," the most advanced interceptor aircraft at the time, amid the growing tension over the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since Homestead AFB was a frontline base facing Cuba, it was necessary to be ready to respond immediately in an emergency. The patch custom was standard for air defense corps units of the era, but the F-104 patch was larger than any of the air fighter patches of its era. This suggests that the F-104's slogan was "Ultimate Manned Fighter," and the F-104 patch symbolized the pride of the pilots who flew this highest-performance, newest airfighter.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket based on the specs at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
