- This Type B-10 red rib version is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on the vintage jackets. The Type B-10 was a fabric flight jacket adopted by the U.S. Army Air Forces in July 1943 as a replacement for the leather B-6 jacket, designed for mid-temperature ranges (+10°C to -10°C). During WWII, facing a severe shortage of leather, the Army reviewed production methods and developed a flight jacket made of cotton twill, suitable for mass production. The lining used alpaca mohair wool pile, which was less bulky and lighter than sheepskin yet highly insulating. Although the exterior resembled the “AN” series, such as AN6552 or AN-J-3A, which were used jointly by the Army and Navy, the Army Air Forces did not fully adopt the “AN” series for joint use. Instead, the B-10 was adopted as a new fabric jacket for mid-temperature use. This particular B-10 was produced by Superior Tog Company, contractor also for B-15, B-15A, and L-2A jackets, featuring an olive color with a striking contrast of red rib-knit cuffs, giving it a wild appearance.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket, and parts such as zipper are revived, based on the specifications at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
