• "Sugar Cane" has faithfully reproduced these jeans based on dead-stock vintage. At first glance, it appears to be a 1937 model, but it is a very rare early 1942 model with the notation "Copyright 1942" at the bottom of the flasher. The original of these jeans were produced for only a short time, from April to August 1942, and the back straps and crotch rivets had not yet been omitted. While the 1937 model used a normal copper rivet with a smashed head in the concealed rivet area, this model uses a special rivet made of steel. Along with this change, the “CONCEALED COPPER RIVETS” on the flasher was changed to “CONCEALED POCKET RIVETS” notation. For these special jeans, "Sugar Cane" has created denim fabric with a thickness and unevenness that is distinctly different from the 1937 model and a black-plated iron buckle that can only be found on this model. The tacks on the back of the buttons are of the copper-plated type.

  Led by Yuichi Fukutomi, a denim specialist from Sugar Cane, the new label SUGAR CANE Super “Denim” Collectibles was launched in 2023, bringing together a team of denim experts. A renowned vintage denim collector, Shigeki Wakiya, has joined this project with a focus on faithfully replicating the “character” of super rare, deadstock, and golden-sized super-vintage pieces that are nearly impossible to find today. The inaugural collection features four super-vintage pieces, which have garnered significant attention in the current vintage market and are known as the “World War II model.” Drawing inspiration from unwashed deadstock vintage denim blouses and jeans, complete with residual glue, new denim fabrics were developed and painstakingly duplicated to match the original vintages, capturing the color hue of oxidized indigo and the characteristics of the warp and weft yarns. Various components are created to emulate the aged appearance of deadstock, including the steel buckles, which, for safety reasons, had been previously avoided. Regarding the sewing stitching, not only are the thread count and sewing pitch faithfully recreated, but also the irregular, non-uniform stitching is meticulously duplicated.
