"SPIDER × ROARING TIGER (HAND PRINT)"

• This special edition reproduces carefully selected Sukajan (Souvenir Jacket) from the Taylor Toyo collection with attention to detail and is finished to be comparable to vintage items. The original of this Sukajan is a work from the early to mid-1950s, featuring a spider casting a net in the dark and waiting for its prey. The yellow and black stripes on the abdomen indicate that the pattern depicted a Japanese spider, "Argiope Amoena". Spider patterns like this are very rare among vintage Sukajan, and although Sukajans with spider webs and skull patterns are found, no other patterns featuring spiders themselves have been found except for this piece. The worthy of a special mention is the way to use embroidery threads, as the use of "floating black on black" threads to avoid sinking into the black body depicts the spider web and the spider in composition with depth. In addition, the spider's legs are made of pink thread, the word "JAPAN" is made of purple-pink thread, the rib lines are purple-gray, and the sleeve piping is pink and white, creating a sense of unity in the color scheme while shifting the tone of the colors used to create a perfect balance.
  The reversible side features a printed tiger pattern that stands out against the silver and black monotone body. The print is not done by a modern machine, instead, they are hand-printed by making a printing plate for each color and printing them one by one by hand which requires an unimaginable amount of time and effort. Therefore, the number of production at that time was very small and the number of existing items is very few, and they are traded at unheard-of prices in the vintage market. This work is a combination of rare patterns on both sides, and it can be said to be a gem worthy of the name of "Kosho & Co.", the founder of the Sukajan.
