"BALL BOYS"
- This Type A-2 jacket with paint and patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on a vintage. The 511th Bombardment Squadron, established in 1942, was deployed as a heavy bombing unit under the 8th Air Force and assigned to the 351st Bombardment Group. They participated in strategic bombing operations against Germany using B-17 Flying Fortressed. The squadron's emblem featured a baseball, earning them the nickname "Ball Boys," in honor of Major Clinton Ball, who led the squadron. The 511th Bombardment Squadron conducted bombing raids on missions as "Flak Magic." The 8th Air Force emblem, embroidered with metallic thread in bullion stitching on the left sleeve, is typically sewn onto uniforms, but it became popular among soldiers to transfer it from their uniforms to their A-2 jackets for dress purposes. Over time, the bullion wire embroidery patch oxidizes, giving it a distinct appearance and further enhancing the jacket's character.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket, and parts such as zipper are revived based on the specifications at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
