"SUKA PRINT LINING"
- 米海軍が採用したタイプG-1のスペックMil-J-7823は1952年から採用され、スペック55-J-14の後を受けて制定されたフライトジャケットである。1950年代初頭、米空軍ではナイロン製のフライトジャケットに切り替えて行ったが、海軍のフライトジャケットは頑なまでに革にこだわり、G-1の型自体も変えることは無かった。G-1が採用された同時期の1950年代、日本に駐留していた米軍兵士たちの記念品として、所属部隊のエンブレムなどを刺繍したのがルーツとされるスーベニアジャケット、スカジャン文化が開花した。その誕生に携わったのが、東洋エンタープライズ社の前身となる港商商会である。このG-1のライニングに使用されているのは、当時港商がスーベニアジャケット用に作った生地で、当時から人気の高かった鷲・虎・龍がプリントされている。この生地は港商商会が米軍のPX(基地内の売店)での販売用として独自に製作した歴史的なものである。基地内の売店で港商が手掛けた和柄の生地に目が止まった兵士は、愛着のあるG-1のライニングをオリエンタルな和柄に張り替えることを思い付いた。当時、港商の生地を扱っていた内の一つが横須賀基地のネイビーエクスチェンジで、ライニングを張り替えた際にそのラベルが付加された。着用すると外観からは豪華なライニングは見えないが、自分だけが知る秘密の洒落心こそが伊達男の美学なのである。

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket, and parts such as zipper are revived, based on the specifications at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully. Please do not pull the leather string forcibly.
