"讃岐院眷属をして為朝をすくふ図 (Tametomo Rescued by Tengu Sent by Sanuki-in)"
- 歌川国芳の傑作として名高い、讃岐院眷属をして為朝をすくふ図（さぬきのいんけんぞくをしてためともをすくうず）。当時、人気を博していた作家・曲亭馬琴の小説『椿説弓張月（ちんせつゆみはりづき）』の一場面を描いたもの。平清盛を討つため都に向かう源為朝の船が嵐に遭い、荒れた海を鎮めようと為朝の妻、白縫が舟から身を投げる。しかし嵐はおさまらず、嘆き切腹しようとする為朝を讃岐院の霊がつかわした天狗が救う。一方、為朝の嫡男・舜天丸と家来の紀平治は、大きな鰐鮫（わにざめ）に命を助けられる。この3つの場面を大判の三枚続で巧みに配置したダイナミックな構図が特徴。現実の存在ではない天狗を薄墨で幻想的に描き、書物でみた鰐（わに）から着想を得た鰐鮫の表現や、当時海外から入ってきたばかりの「青」の顔料をふんだんに使うなど、西洋絵画の着想や技術を取り入れた国芳の新たな表現が強く反映された作品。
