- The original of this fabric was developed in the early 1900s for workers enduring the harsh cold of America's East Coast. By twisting together two different colored yarns, a random color pattern appears on the surface, creating a unique, textured appearance. Combining excellent warmth retention with durability, this fabric was highly valued by workers in demanding environments, such as hunting and forestry. It is also said to have been named "Beach Cloth" because surfers of the era wore it on the beach to keep warm. Studio D’artisan has created the ‘Kasuri-dyed BEACH CLOTH’ fabric, blending this beloved American material with ‘kasuri’—a traditional Japanese woven fabric cherished as Japanese commoners’ kimono. Based on this material beloved in America, Studio D’artisan has created the "Kasuri-dyed BEACH CLOTH" fabric, fusing it with the traditional Japanese textile "Kasuri", cherished as the fabric for the common people. Using Kasuri yarn for the warp creates an irregular, broken straight-line pattern on the fabric's surface, evoking the scene of pouring rain. Furthermore, the lining is made of wool fleece, creating a double-layered structure that provides excellent warmth. Seam allowances and fabric edges are finished with piping for a meticulous finish. The silhouette features a wide straight with a high rise.
