The original Hawaiian shirt was produced by John Keoni Meigs who is the Hawaiian shirt designer representing the 1950s.
A highly complete piece that is typical of Meigs, drawing with a unique touch a hula dancer dancing in the background of the Surf Riders Hotel in the moonlight.
The original Hawaiian shirt at that time was made by ”Poi Pounder Togg” that was a Hawaiian Toggs company's brand. This brand was hugely popular locally and was also wholesaled to well-known department stores such as Liberty House and Sears.
