Buzz Rickson's A-2 No.18775-P "BUZZ RICKSON CLO.CO." ANILINE FINISHED RED RIB VERSION BR80367
A-2 No.18775-P RED RIB VERSION
This model is the sixth and last contract of Aero Leathers, an A-2 contractor since the latter half of the 1930s. The company stands out among the many A-2 contractors for its comfortable jackets. This is made possible by using separate paper patterns for the left and right sides, similar to standard clothing, such that the center is properly located as well as the omission of a collar stand. Attached with red brick-colored knitted parts, this A-2 jacket is known as "red rib". It creates a beautiful contrast with the dark seal brown color of the jacket's body, making this a highly popular model among the A-2 jackets. The leather is Italian rawhide tanned slowly over time by soaking it in a basin with tannin extracted from tree barks, while altering the extract concentration. The base is dyed in a color very similar to oak bark used to make the tannin solotion. The leather finish is created by carefully rubbing seal brown aniline dye into the leather. The surface fades due to creases and rubbing from wear, and the oak color of the base begins to appear from underneath the seal brown finish. The color contrast and the leather's original natural texture that shine through are unique to aniline dyes. The leather has a distinctive look that captivates leather fans both visually and by its feel.
