The U.S. Navy adopted the N-4 utility jacket during World War Ⅱ. It closely resembles the M-41 field jacket that was adopted by the army . However, the M-41 has a khaki color while the N-4 has a strong olive color. In addition, N-4 can also be distinguished by the "U.S.N." stencil printed on the chest. The materials used for N-4 are cotton poplin for the outer shell and wool flannel for lining, which are common to M-41. Although it is relatively thin, it has excellent heat retention, and it can be used for a wide range of seasons depending on the inner adjustment, such as in the temperature range around 10°C and during periods other than the harsh winter.
