The 444th Combat Interception Squadron was formed under the control of ADC (Air Defense Corps) at Charleston Air Force Base in 1954. In 1960, the latest supersonic combat interceptor "F-101B Voodoo" was installed. They completed their mission as a spear to defend the mainland during the Cold War until the end of 1968.
Since the Squadron patch of the ADC unit is mainly for domestic air defense missions, there are many colorful and large items compared to the TAC unit that is often deployed overseas. The patch of the 444th combat interception squadron is also a flashy design with the motif of green devil, and it is a patch custom like ADC along with the Voodoo patch.
