MACKINAW,O.D. Type M-1943 "PW"Stencil
- The Mackinaw coat is a historic cold coat adopted by the US Army since World War I. The early Mackinaw coat was a thick cotton duck material, but it was changed to a more comfortable cotton poplin material because it is hard. The appearance has also been improved. The predecessor model M-1942 had a shawl collar with a waist belt, but this M-1943 was improved to a notched lapel collar, and at the same time the waist belt was also eliminated. The wool blanket used for the lining is covered with cotton twill on the shoulders and sleeves, which improves mobility and durability. By the end of the war, the name of Mackinaw coat disappeared and it was called jeep coat.
