Buzz Rickson's DECK A-2 "CIVILIAN MODEL" NAVY COLOR BR14154
DECK A-2 "CIVILIAN MODEL" NAVY COLOR
The A-2 deck jacket was adopted in the first half of the 1960s as a successor model of the N-1, a jacket for cold weather to protect deck crew working on the deck. While the standard color for the officially adopted A-2 deck jacket is olive drab, this jacket was made for civilian use and thus is a navy color unlike that for military use. Perhaps because many of the jackets and coats formally issued to the U.S. Navy have a navy color as a show of pride, this jacket too has the orthodox style of such accessories issued to the military.
